The MAKING HISTORY® Slugfest

The Muzzy Lane MAKING HISTORY Tournament will take place at the National WWII Museum’s The Heat of Battle Wargaming Convention August 24-26 in Gheens Foundation Teacher Resource Library. All players who register by August 20, 2007, will receive a free download 30-day license of the game for pre-tourney preparation.

There will be an exhibition day on Friday followed by two rounds of competition: The Competition Rounds (3) on Saturday and the Global Domination Round (1) on Sunday.

Friday’s Exhibition Play

Come meet a primary developer and master player of MAKING HISTORY to learn what it is all about! The library is open for you to give MAKING HISTORY a spin!

In addition, raffles will be held throughout the day for visitors to the exhibition play to win MAKING HISTORY games, t-shirts and gift certificates to the Museum Shop.

The Competition Rounds

The three Competition Rounds will take place during S1, S2 and S3 timeslots on Saturday (see table below.) At each of the three competition rounds, five contestants (teams of up to three players each are welcome!) will simultaneously play Conclusion of the War (the Invasion of Normandy) as the United States in single player mode. This scenario begins with the Allied invasion force in the English Channel on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Players will be attempting to take back Europe and defeat Nazi Germany. The winners will be determined by the highest scores at the end of the three-hour period. Contestants for the Competition rounds may choose which timeslot they compete in on a first-come, first-serve basis. The top 5 scores (individuals or teams) from all three Competition rounds will progress to the final Global Domination Round. In the case of a tie score at the end of a Competition round, a tie will be broken based on the highest number of turns completed.

The Global Domination Round

The Final round will take place on Sunday morning from 09.00-12.00 and will be comprised of the top five individual or team scores from the Competition Rounds. Players will engage in a multiplayer competition in the World at War scenario with a 2-minute turn timer. The scenario begins with Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, and the US entry into the war. In Europe, Germany is at war with the USSR. Players will choose their nation (China, Japan, Italy, UK, US, USSR, Germany) in scoring order from the Competition rounds.  The winner will be determined by greatest country score improvement (end power point score minus beginning power point score.)  In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by combining the Global Domination round score with the team or individual's score from the Competition round.
